Three Days until the Start of 2014's Summer Ride

The Chinese philosopher Laozi said, "The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.".

Of course any modern journey begins with planning and preparation.  And when travelling by motorcycle, on a long journey, with minimalist space issues, defining the essentials vs. space available priority requires planning.  This planning is where the journey really begins.  That planning has been on-going for several weeks now.  The list is complete.  The bags are ready to be packed. The batteries (camera, etc.) are charged, and the bike has been fully serviced, with new tires, oil, etc.

2014's summer ride is scheduled to begin June 01, 2014.  Rain or shine.  We hope for the later.

My travels will take me from my West Tennessee home southwest to southern Texas, along the southern US border to the west coast, then north on the Pacific Coast Highway to Seattle, where I will follow the US Canadian border back east until it is time to return home.  Although the first day will cover more ground than most days, I would like to limit most days to no more than 300 miles.  Multiple days are anticipated at some locations.

As I did last year I will try to capture the trip with photos and brief narratives.  This is the first narrative.  My next scheduled report should come at the end of the day June 01.

Headed west in three days.  All is well.
